Mixed-media installation. 9' x 6.5' x 3". Wood, elastic cord, projector, computer, custom software.
Linear Cycle is a mixed media installation consisting of a wall-mounted sculpture, made of wood and dozens of elastic cords, and a computer-generated animation that is projected on the sculpture. The animation consists of a repeating linear pattern of black, grey and white bars, but when it interacts with the sculpture it produces an undulating moire pattern. No curves are projected; the wave-like appearance is purely the consequence of the interference between the animation and the sculpture.
